As Christmas is approaching I am reading the Christmas story. Have you ever read the story of Jesus’ birth in the bible? Ever read all the “begats”? Yeah, I always skip that part too, until yesterday. In the first Chapter of Matthew it lists all the begats from Abraham to Joseph… Hmmm? Joseph, the one who had no blood relation to Jesus. Yet the one that loved him, raised him and called him his own. His lineage was Jesus’ lineage, because of the covenant between Mary and Joseph, and between Joseph and God. Joseph accepted Jesus as his son in every way, and loved him in every way. He too carried the burden of the call on Jesus’ life.
