I watched a video, an ABC news piece, about a popular baby doll. “Little Mommy” doll by Fisher Price is supposed to “coo” at you when you pull it’s string. However, though Fisher Price denies the legitimacy, when you pull the doll’s string it says “Islam is the light”.
I had to hear it for myself, so I thought you would want to as well:
My guess is while Fisher Price says they will not be pulling it, they will fix the future dolls. If you have bought one that does or does not say this please let us know, and tell us when you bought it. That may make a difference.
Unbelievable. How did that get past inspection? Well, I guess they could make dolls that say “Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Light” if they can do it for Islam then they can make a good little Christian doll too. Makes me glad I have boys.
Wow. How would you like it if strict Muslims that do not endorse “far out” strands of their religion, lumped all Christians together? That is what you have just done!
Do you personally KNOW any Muslims? I do! Have you ever toured a Mosque? Talked with an Imam?
Open your eyes, ears, and hearts!
Ok, On this I must say you have greatly read into something. I never said one word about any Muslim. I never said anything about extreme Muslims. Again, I do know Muslims, and do not think they are all extreme.
I posted a video which concerned me, and even said if you know that this has been fixed let me know. Maybe it was a prank, maybe ONE radical did it, but either way it says what it says and I as a mother wanted to know, and thought others would as well.
My mother in law innocently purchased one of these dolls from Target in September. We had it in our home for a month until I realized what the doll was saying. It is absolutely clear, and just mixed in with babbling so that a parent would not quite notice, but a child that listens to it constantly would definitely immitate it. On one setting the baby doll coos and then says “Islam is the light. Satan is king.” It definitely seemed deliberate and I was very upset. We sent the doll back to Fisher Price and they returned the money to my mother in law. Since then, I was at Big Lots on November 15, 2008 and they are currently carrying the doll. I listened to it to make sure that it was the same and, it still said the same thing. I brought it to the cashier and she said that they would be pulled from the shelves. I have not yet been back to check, but Big Lots currently has the dolls featured on their website.
