A friend sent this to me, and I thought it appropriate for Thankful Thursday, life is about perspective, and knowing there is always something to be grateful for. Whether we have alot or nothing at all. Sometimes less truly is more.
One day, the father of a very wealthy family took his son on a trip to the country with the express purpose of showing him how poor people live. They spent a couple of days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.
On their return from their trip, the father asked his son, “How was the trip?” “It was great, Dad.” “Did you see how poor people live?” the father asked.
“Oh yeah,” said the son. “So, tell me, what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father. The son answered: “I saw that we have one dog and they had four.
We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end.
We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.
We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others. We buy our food, but they grow theirs.
We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.” The boy’s father was speechless.
Then his son added, “Thanks Dad for showing me how poor we are.”

I’ve always loved this one. I’m coming to learn how real the gratitude and expecations are in conjunction with our perspective. Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Holly
Reading this article, makes me laugh because life is so simple in the eyes of our children. They view things totally different. Sometimes, I do take a moment and see things they way they see it and laugh. And, then I am grateful because we take things for granted sometimes and we need a reminder to be appreciative of the life we have.
Way too cool! Isn’t that the truth though! It is the simple things in life that mean so much more than money can buy – I’d just like to have them both!!! Ha! I was a live in nanny for a VERY WEALTHY family and I took them to meet another nanny friend of mine and the little boy she took care of one afternoon. When we left, they were amazed at how big his house was and went home telling their parents how RICH that little boy was! I laughed so hard b/c what they had no idea of at their ages of 5 and 3 that they were heirs to a multi-million dollar fortune as well!
